Comment on the ``θ\theta-term renormalization in the (2+1)-dimensional CPN1CP^{N-1} model with θ\theta term''

It is found that the recently published first coefficient of nonzero β\beta-function for the Chern-Simons term in the 1/N1/N expansion of the CPN1CP^{N-1} model is untrue numerically. The correct result is given. The main conclusions of Park's paper are not changed.Comment: 3 pages, LATE

Black p-Branes versus black holes in non-asymptotically flat Einstein-Yang-Mills theory

We present a class of non-asymptotically flat (NAF) charged black p-branes (BpB) with p-compact dimensions in higher dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills theory. Asymptotically the NAF structure manifests itself as an anti-de-sitter spacetime. We determine the total mass / energy enclosed in a thin-shell located outside the event horizon. By comparing the entropies of BpB with those of black holes in same dimensions we derive transition criteria between the two types of black objects. Given certain conditions satisfied our analysis shows that BpB can be considered excited states of black holes. An event horizon r+r_{+} versus charge square Q2Q^{2} plot \ for the BpB reveals such a transition where r+r_{+} is related to the horizon radius rhr_{h} of the black hole (BH) both with the common charge % Q. © 2019 by the authors. Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.Graphene nanosheets have been among the most promising candidates for a highperformance anode material to replace graphite in lithium ion batteries (LIBs). Studies in this area have mainly focused on nanostructured electrodes synthesized by graphene oxide (GO) or reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and surface modifications by a chemical treatment. Herein, we propose a cost-effective and reliable route for generating a defect-free, nanoporous graphene nanostructure (df-GNS) through the sequential insertion of pyridine into a potassium graphite intercalation compound (K-GIC). The as-prepared df-GNS preserves the intrinsic property of graphene without any crystal damage, leading to micro-/nano-porosity (microporosity: ~10–50 µm, nanoporosity: ~2– 20 nm) with a significantly large specific surface area. The electrochemical performance of the dfGNS as an anode electrode was assessed and showed a notably enhanced capacity, rate capability, and cycle stability, without fading in capacity or decaying. This is because of the optimal porosity, with perfect preservation of the graphene crystal, allowing faster ion access and a high amount of electron pathways onto the electrode. Therefore, our work will be very helpful for the development of anode and cathode electrodes with higher energy and power performance requirement

Extremely large perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of an Fe(001) surface capped by 5d transition metal monolayers: A density functional study

    Get PDF
Significant enhancement of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy (MCA) of an Fe(001) surface capped by 4d and 5d transition metal monolayers is presented in this study using first principles density functional calculations. In particular, an extremely large perpendicular MCA of +10 meV/Ir was found in Ir-capped Fe(001), which originates not from the Fe but from the large spin-orbit coupling of the Ir atoms. From the spin-channel decomposition of the MCA matrix and electronic structure analyses, we find that strong 3d-5d band hybridization in the minority spin state is responsible for the sign changes of the MCA from parallel to perpendicular.open0

Design and fabrication of double pancake coil using 2G wire for conduction cooled superconducting magnet

    Get PDF
AbstractA large bore double pancake coil(DPC) was designed and tested with 2G HTS wire to develop the conduction cooled superconducting magnet with central field intensity of 3 T at 20K operating temperature and clear bore of 100mm at room temperature. The effect of insulation between turns of double pancake coils was tested. Two double pancake coils with and without turn to turn insulation were wound using 4mm wide 2G conductor. A temporary result suggests that the coil wound without electrical insulation can be protected from higher over current and shows improved stability

Radiomics in Lung Cancer from Basic to Advanced: Current Status and Future Directions

Copyright © 2020 The Korean Society of Radiology.Ideally, radiomics features and radiomics signatures can be used as imaging biomarkers for diagnosis, staging, prognosis, and prediction of tumor response. Thus, the number of published radiomics studies is increasing exponentially, leading to a myriad of new radiomics-based evidence for lung cancer. Consequently, it is challenging for radiologists to keep up with the development of radiomics features and their clinical applications. In this article, we review the basics to advanced radiomics in lung cancer to guide young researchers who are eager to start exploring radiomics investigations. In addition, we also include technical issues of radiomics, because knowledge of the technical aspects of radiomics supports a well-informed interpretation of the use of radiomics in lung cancer11Nsciescopuskc

Fire resistance performance of submerged floating tunnel under various fire conditions

Submerged Floating Tunnels (SFT) were researched by countries had many island as Norway, Italy,\ud China, and Japan. Several sites were examined in China and Norway. Most of them investigated about seismic, dynamic,\ud and collision performance. However, present researches lack to apply the construction fields, therefore, additional\ud researches need. Fire resistance performance of the SFT is important one of the various researches. If fire break out in\ud SFT, it is damaged by thermal loads. The damage of the SFT varies by type of fire. Structure of the SFT is able to\ud collapse partially by fire scale and fire exposure time. For this reason, fire resistance design of the SFT must be\ud suggested. Fire resistance performance of SFT could be investigating for fire resistance design of SFT. Fire condition\ud could be expressed fire curves which are suggested by fire scale and fire exposure time. In this paper, temperature\ud distributions of the SFT were investigated through FE analysis under various fire conditions. Heat transfer analysis was\ud applied to investigate conduction of heat by fire. And there was to draw the biggest influence fire condition to the SFT\ud from FE analysis results. Also, preliminary study was performed for fire resistance design

    Nonequilibrium coupled Brownian phase oscillators

A model of globally coupled phase oscillators under equilibrium (driven by Gaussian white noise) and nonequilibrium (driven by symmetric dichotomic fluctuations) is studied. For the equilibrium system, the mean-field state equation takes a simple form and the stability of its solution is examined in the full space of order parameters. For the nonequilbrium system, various asymptotic regimes are obtained in a closed analytical form. In a general case, the corresponding master equations are solved numerically. Moreover, the Monte-Carlo simulations of the coupled set of Langevin equations of motion is performed. The phase diagram of the nonequilibrium system is presented. For the long time limit, we have found four regimes. Three of them can be obtained from the mean-field theory. One of them, the oscillating regime, cannot be predicted by the mean-field method and has been detected in the Monte-Carlo numerical experiments.Comment: 9 pages 8 figure

Transient response analysis of a submerged floating tunnel under seismic and wave excitations

    Get PDF
In this study, a numerical procedure is described for the transient response analysis of a submerged\ud floating tunnel with reference of a designed tunnel in Japan. Tension legs seizing the tunnel are simply modeled by a\ud spring elements and the tunnel itself is assumed by two rigid bodies between which a flexible joint is used. A recorded\ud seismic excitation is used while the wave load is calculated under a specific design condition. Hydro-damping and\ud added mass are considered for numerically modeling the underwater condition. A numerical procedure is validated with\ud compared to the previous results of the designed tunnel. Some modifications are proposed through the validating\ud process in terms of modeling and analysis procedure. Eventually, the modified numerical procedure will be used in\ud analyzing the transient response of a newly designed tunnel
